This chapter describes practical aspects of creating topic map processing application using an open source toolkit called TM4J. The core of TM4J is a set of Java APIs for parsing, manipulating, and writing topic maps in XTM 1.0 format. TM4J contains a small number of command-line utilities foe measuring various statistics about topic maps and for merging topic maps.
