The TMInspector is a small but powerful tool for working with topic maps. You can easily import and export maps as XTM 1.0 & 2.0, get information about the maps, and also merge them. The TMInspector is free-of-charge, open source, and part of the TM++ topic maps engine example suite. In the following, the usage of the TMInspector is shown with some small examples.

In a first step we will merge the two topic maps bands.xtm (contains a lot of music bands), and consertHalls.xtm (contains consert halls). First you should import both topic maps:

Now the the two topic maps has been imported. You can merge them together and export the new map as a XTM 2.0 file:

In the following example the XTM 1.0 file bands.xtm is converted to a XTM 2.0 file:

The TMInspector executable for Windows® can be downloaded from here (download size is about 0.4 Mb), users of other operating systems must compile the TM++ source code example available from the TM++ homepage.

Topic Maps provides a proven means for data integration scaling to the
web, as well as a core technology for our highly flexible applications
with largely autogenerated frontend structures.
